2025 Bishop Mtekateka Secondary School's Graduation Ceremony Sets the Stage for MSCE Triumph
2025 Bishop Mtekateka Secondary School’s graduation ceremony was nothing short of inspiring, as Form 4 students received powerful motivation from their peers who have secured places in various public universities. A total of 72 students, selected in the 2025 intake,
shared their success stories, urging their fellow students to work hard, remain disciplined, and aim for top grades in the upcoming Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examinations.
Mr. Luke Matchiya, the PTA chairperson, encouraged students to
stay focused and avoid any behavior that could lead to exclusion from school in the final two weeks of their studies. He further announced an exciting incentive: students who score 10 points or below in their MSCE exams will receive
a laptop and K100,000 each—a reward designed to push them toward academic excellence.
Prince Winga, a proud alumnus of Bishop Mtekateka, shared his journey from being a student at the school to earning a place of Malawi, where he
pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities. Now an Associate Lecturer at the same university, Winga credited Bishop Mtekateka for shaping his academic path and encouraged students to embrace discipline and hard work.
Mr. Kennedy Changata, the class teacher,
reflected on the incredible journey he has had with the students since their Form 1 days in September 2022. He further advised parents not to worry with the mock results as the school uses a struct grading system which is
never manipulated just to make them happy that their wards are performing at school. In a remarkable show of support, he pledged personal cash rewards for top-performing students: MK500,000 for those scoring 6 points, MK400,000 for those achieving 7 points,
and MK250,000 for those earning 8 points. His generosity further fueled the students' determination to excel.
Mr. Jesman Seva, the school's Director and Headmaster, emphasized that the world values educated and disciplined individuals. He highlighted the school's legacy
of producing successful graduates, citing Prince Winga and Macphercio Nkhoma as shining examples. He also expressed gratitude to parents for attending the event, noting that their presence plays a crucial role in motivating students.
The Guest of Honor, The
Very Reverend Canon Emmanuel Makalande, delivered a heartfelt message, urging students to seek the kingdom of God first and embrace righteousness as a foundation for success. As the first Director of Bishop Mtekateka Secondary School, Canon Makalande underscored the importance
of good behavior in achieving one's dreams. He further announced that the school’s board will award MK700,000 to any student who scores a single-digit aggregate in the MSCE exams.
With inspiring words from accomplished alumni, dedicated educators, and supportive
parents, Form 4 students left the graduation ceremony with renewed determination. As they prepare for their MSCE exams, they carry with them the promise of rewards, the wisdom of experience, and the belief that hard work and discipline will pave
the way for a bright future.
