BISHOP MTEKATEKA SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS VISIT NKOPE SCHOOL FOR THE BLIND
One of the most important things we teach our students is citizenship. Students visited Nkope mission on 10th-11th May,2024.During the evening of 10th May, the students engaged with visually impaired students. They shared dinner and breakfast together on the visited
days respectively. The organization, which is governed by the Anglican Diocese of Upper Shire, received donations of cash and various items from the students. Before heading to Cape Maclear, the students attended a brief church service. One of the most
fascinating things about this location is that it was originally named Nkope instead of Khope because early missionaries mispronounced it because they thought a face resembling a human was carved into one of the area’s hills' stones. The use of
the Chauncy Maples Ship by missionaries was another fascinating fact. SS Chauncy Maples, a motor ship that was formerly a steamship, was launched in 1901. Her whole career, she worked around Lake Malawi, where the mission of Nkope was established
and the gospel was propagated.
